Privacy Policy — Lampada
Last updated: July 2026 · Applies to Lampada (previously published as “Orthodox Daily”)
Lampada is built to respect your privacy. The app has no accounts, no logins, no
analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. Nearly everything you do stays on your
device. The one exception — requests you make to the AI Fasting Kitchen — is described plainly
below.
What stays on your device
All of the following is stored locally on your device and is never sent to us:
- Your settings (appearance, text size, reminders, widget, prayer/troparia options).
- Your confession-preparation notes and daily streak — these never leave your device.
- Your saved Cookbook, weekly meal plans, shopping-list checkmarks, and food preferences.
- A short on-device history of your recent AI recipe generations, kept so the Kitchen can
show your latest results and help diagnose problems. It is capped, overwritten as you
keep cooking, and never uploaded.
- Reminder notifications, which are scheduled and delivered on-device.
The daily calendar, fasting rules, Scripture readings, and prayers are bundled in the
app and work fully offline.
The exception: AI Kitchen requests
When you ask the Fasting Kitchen to generate something — recipes, a weekly plan, a pantry
dinner, or an adaptation — the text needed to answer you is sent over the network. That
includes your request, your saved food preferences (tastes, allergies, household size), any
pantry items you typed, and the day's fasting rule. If you're prompting an AI, that content
can't stay on the device — so here is exactly where it goes:
- The request is sent to our server, which forwards it to
Anthropic's API to generate the answer.
- You are identified only by a random anonymous identifier created on your device —
never a name, email, or account. It exists so free-trial and fair-use limits work and so
your Premium subscription can be verified.
- We do not store the content of your requests or the generated recipes on our
servers. Our server keeps brief technical logs (timestamps, the request type,
an abbreviated anonymous identifier, response status, and size measures) for roughly
three days, for debugging and abuse prevention — these logs contain no request text and
no recipes.
- Anthropic processes the request under
Anthropic's privacy policy; under
Anthropic's commercial API terms, this content is not used to train its models.
Subscriptions
Lampada Premium is purchased through Apple; Apple handles all payment details, and
we never see your name, card, or Apple ID. To verify an active subscription the app uses
RevenueCat, which processes an anonymous purchase record (the same random identifier
plus Apple's purchase receipt) under
RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Other network connections
The app contacts a few sources only to fetch content — never to send personal data:
- Patristic commentary and Father icons are fetched from a public static host and
cached on your device.
- Lives of the Saints and related images are fetched from the Orthodox Church in
America (oca.org), used with permission and shown with attribution.
Children's privacy
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including
children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
